What does it mean to recycle and reuse Soccer uniforms, soccer balls and equipment from local soccer clubs and associations? Think about the number of children play soccer in one soccer league and times that by 100+ across Ontario. The number of uniforms that is used during one soccer season remains in draws, closets and boxes because there no place to reuse them. Consider the number of children that are less unfortunate and would love to play soccer with a rubber ball instead of garbage wrapped up in wire or string.
Google search the words “recycle used soccer uniforms” and it will become apparent that the number of resources is small. The number of soccer jersey’s, shorts, and socks that find their way to the local landfill is beyond anyone’s comprehension. We can only image that is in the tens of thousands.
Organizations such as Chance to Play, takes all those gently used soccer uniforms, soccer balls, and coached equipment and donates it to communities and children that are less fortunate such as Reserves across Canada and oversees communities. Let’s consider the planet and the repercussions and find solutions that will benefit our earth and children.
